Capella Sculpture by Jason Krugman
Oomstudios rationalized the design and fabrication of the sculpture for Jason Krugman Studio. The sculpture is composed of hundreds of equally size circuit boards that run power to LED lights. The circuit board mesh was draped around a rolled metal tube frame.
Creating complex 3-Dimensional Geometry with single edge length circuit boards is a cost-effective way of building but presents challenges of form-finding. Using kangaroo, a physical form-finding plugin for grasshopper, we were able to recreate the physical process of rolling, bending, and shaping a mesh on an architectural scale.
