Opera: Madama Butterfly

At Mariko Mori Studio, as part of the costume for Madama Butterfly, we designed a pair of 3d printed wings to be used as the contemporary interpretation of Cio-Cio-San's bridal gown.  For the form, we went through a series of experiments using the Voronoi diagram in rhino and Grasshopper where we finally arrived at the layered effect.

The costume was 3D printed by Materialize in SLS ink dyed, ensuring flexibily for the Opera singers performance.
